The AASM’s education department rolls out interactive courses for medical students through Articulate. I often work closely with the education team to provide updated, streamlined, custom illustrated visuals as well as branded course colorways, typography, welcome slides, headers, footers and wayfinding icons (arrows, etc.). Below is a sample of the personalized imagery I have created for these courses.
Basics of electrode application: eeg and eog

I created the Blue Man so that diversity never became an issue. He’s even showcased in the master file I eventually created (which includes typography, colors, object styles and rules so the custom medical image creation process is standardized at AASM).
Evaluating Therapies: Shortening the uvula

Often my reference would be a grainy photo, and in order to ensure my imagery was accurate, the education team and I would refer back to a sleep doctor for feedback on my designs.
Sleep Hygiene

Creating this image set was fun because it was for a more general sleep hygiene course and I had the opportunity to tell a story with visual aids. Originally stock vectors, I manipulated to make them uniquely AASM’s through their uniqueness and branded colors.
Craniofacial Syndromes

Most of the time, however, I am illustrating different versions of anatomy. Any time the upper epidermis is involved, it’s blue.
